Wedding Crashers (R)

Scott:

Scott: Tonight we are reviewing Wedding Crashers
, starring Owen Wilson
and Vince Vaughn
. This movie is about a couple of "playas" looking for women at weddings. It's better than it sounds. What did you think?
Mike: They are huge scam artists, but they are out for a good time. This movie was freakin' hilarious. My face still hurts from laughing!
Scott: It was one of the funniest movies of the year.
Mike: The funniest one I have seen so far this year. Ranks with Meet the Fockers
and dare I say it... Old School
.
Scott: I think it beats out Old School
, this was consistently funny throughout and that had some slow parts. Owen Wilson
, as John Beckwith is funny, but Vince Vaughn
, as Jeremy Klein, was awesome.
Mike: Vaughn
is the man. This is the probably the best team up that Wilson
has had.
Scott: Yes they make a very good pair. Owen
is a smooth operator in this one.
Mike: This movie has a great cast. Rachel McAdams
is very likable. We last saw her in The Notebook
.
Scott: She is a hottie. She was a hottie in Mean Girls
too. With this movie I don't feel dirty since she is a college grad.
Mike: She is hot. I think she is the new go-to girl as a romantic lead.
Scott: She has those killer dimples, you can take a nap in them they are so big.
Mike: Killer dimples and all you would do is nap in them. Didn't you learn anything from the boys in this movie?
Scott: We have to keep this PG-13.
Mike: You have to love that both Christopher Walken
and Jane Seymour
are in this movie.
Scott: Christopher Walken
just has that style; you got to love the way he talks. "We need more cow bell!"
Mike: I was ready to ditch the young girl for Jane Seymour
. She is still something else.
Scott: This movie is a romantic comedy, so you know what is going to happen, it is always the same premise. This movie is no different in that. The difference with this movie is they show more before boy meets girl, and those scenes are funny!
Mike: These guys definitely had half-track minds.
Scott: There was a lot of sex in this movie, and even though an annoying 7 year old sat beside me in the theater (no I don't mean Mike), it is not for kids. The sex wasn't over the top like American Pie
, it wasn't the camera focus, just implied in the scenes.
Mike: When I saw that they had the old lady from the Wedding Singer
, Ellen Dow
, I was hoping they wouldn't waste her.
Scott: Ellen
is great. She never looks like she will be lively, yet she is.
Mike: Her scene at the dinner table is just my kind of inappropriate humor.
Scott: The Cleary family was very well put together.
Mike: The family scenes at the "little house on the shore" are some of the best. Poor Vince definitely takes some abuse, just to help out his buddy. Bradley Cooper
of Alias
fame plays the boyfriend, Sack, who you know is not right for our girl. He is quite the creep.
Scott: He played a great a-hole. I wanted to beat his butt; he got on my last nerve, the mark of a great 'other' man.
Mike: Yes, like in the tradition of the old romances. Where it's okay that the girl is fooling around with the male lead, instead of her fiancé. And it always turns out okay because the guy is either not right for her or an outright bastard.
Scott: Right.
Mike: There is a big surprise towards the end with a bonus actor as Chaz. I don't want to give it away, because he's not in the trailer. But he's like the best possible surprise this movie could have. His few minutes in the movie are a highlight. Got everybody guessing now...
Scott: He comes in to end the slow part, the only slow spot in the movie. He picks the movie right back up.
Mike: I agree, but I guess that's the time my face needed to rest from the non-stop laughter. Summer Altice
was Chaz's girlfriend. She is a playmate!
Scott: Lots of pretty girls in this movie. So Mike, what do you give this?
Mike: This is a 5 out of 5 for comedy and 4 out of 5 overall. I want to run out and see this again. How about you?
Scott: This is a 4.5 out of 5 for me overall, a darn good movie. It's the best comedy of the year. I plan on catching this again with a few friends. Everyone I know will love it.
Mike: This is the DodgeBall
of 2005. My favorite comedy of 2004, if you couldn't guess.
Scott: It's a more sophisticated movie though.
And we need more cow bell...
