Scott's Year End Review 2008
This was supposed to be my Top 10, unfortunately I didn’t see enough movies this year. I had a son born in May and that really curtailed my movie viewing. I'm finally getting back into the reviews again, but not soon enough. Last year I managed to review 14 movies. The scores range from a the top for Slumdog Millionaire
to the bottom for Smart People
.
Our scale is from
to

.
For me, a

is an ok movie, a movie you should wait for to come out on cable. Above that good, worth seeing, below that, you should avoid it.
This year I rate 5 movies below the midline rating and 6 above.
Therefore, my top 6 movies I reviewed are:
Slumdog Millionaire
– the best movie, by far, of last year.
Forgetting Sarah Marshall
– a surprisingly funny and cute love story.
Get Smart
– who says Steve Carell
can't make a good movie (I did after watching Evan Almighty)
Vantage Point
– this proved Dennis Quaid
can still carry a movie.
Forbidden Kingdom
– a fresh-ish look at martial arts movies.
The Spiderwick Chronicles
– a charming and fun movie based on a children’s book.
My worst 3, because I know you want to know are:
The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor
– everything good from the first two movies was removed, even the mummy.
You Don't Mess With the Zohan
– I wish I didn't mess with the Zohan, so I could get the time I spent watching this back.
Smart People
– Remember what I said about Dennis Quaid? This is another reason why people don't flock to his movies. He has several of these for every good Vantage Point.
